The animals stay longer in the pastures of the farmers that belong to the group. During the summer they stay in the pastures and, during the “winter”, in the integration areas. As it is a big amount of animals, there is a high rotation - first and last grazing days – the whole year. In addition to that, the group has partnerships with Paraná Supermarket (Campo Mourão – PR), as well as Muffato Supermarket (Campo Mourão, Cascavel, Londrina, Maringá, Toledo and Foz do Iguaçu – PR). These partnerships demand the supply and animals quality to be constant throughout the year. For that to be possible, not all the animals get ready for slaughter only in the pastures. The feed lot of some of them is necessary for a small period of time – 40 to 60 days.

The feed lot is a fattening method for bovines, in restricted areas (pickets, stalls), with the supplying of balance diets on the basis of voluminous food, such as maize silage, and concentrates, such as soy and maize grains, or industrial feed. All the food is supplied in concrete troughs to the animals, several times a day. Mineral water and salt are available to the animals. It is important to highlight the fact that the use of hormones for the fattening of the animals is not part of Maria Macia group philosophy. Thus, Maria Macia animals are characterized as “natural Ox”, as they are only fed with green pastures and grains.

This finishing in Feed lot is necessary and indispensable so that Maria Macia group can get standardization and volume of animals for slaughter.
